The website of the anniversary is static and can be used as reference on Ribe’s historical anniversary year.
Ribe was founded in the year 710 as a market place in Sct. Nicolaj Gade, and is therefore not only the oldest town of Denmark, but of the North.
The year 2010 was all about the anniversary in Ribe and more than 250 events – big and small – took place throughout the year, for great pleasure for both inhabitants and the many tourists in town.
The anniversary was marked and realised with the economic help of funds and sponsors as well as a remarkable involvement of both inhabitants and businesses. The year 2010 was not only a wonderful celebration of the distinguished history of the town, but also visible proof of Ribe’s strength not only in the past but also very much in the present.
